Could it be a dud/faulty flywheel pickup sensor?

Without knowing the inner workings of the ECU, I assume it won't start injecting fuel until it sees rotation.

And yes, I'm running out of ideas here!!

The 10AS is the green box behind the instrument console.
On a standard off the line, it's always there even if the unit was ordered without alarm or CDL.

so what happens is that when everytime you turn on ignition, the ECU will poll the 10AS for a code it's expecting if the correct code is presented, it will start. This has nothing to do with the imobiliser activate or the red light flashing.

the time it sees a wrong code, the ECU will say, i'm not going to allow the car to start and sets itself into ECU immobilised. Now the 10AS doesn't know the ECU has done this hence the engine with lightning symbol doesn't come up on the instrument cluster, beside the 10AS was never programmed to do immob if the alarm was not specified.

So you need to query the status of the ECU from diagnostic to see if this has happened. If this has happened, you will need to make the ECU relearn the 10AS code.

again if this vehicle has alarm, it's had nothing to do with the fob sync. this is the communication between the ECU and 10AS. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At 125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island.

Never heard of that before, but I'll check it out when I do the headers. Thanks. Will let you know what I find.

Checked out the header joints and the 10S.. Joints are fine as is the 10AS which was checked on the NANOCOM which stated the ECU was "Not Disabled". Still waiting on pressure tester to arrive, so will up-date as soon as.

A known good cps fitted would rule that out.

Will the nanocom give any live data while it's turning over?

Is there any more details on it not starting, for example, it cut out while driving and wouldn't start again, or, it's been stood for a while etc. It wasn't me!

Fuel pressure fine, 4 bar on inlet side.
Nanocon won't run while cranking. It shuts down to protect itself.
landy running for about an hour, everything fine. Switched off for 20 minutes. Would not start. Even with tow.

Ok, that suggests the one way valve in the filter head has possibly failed, allowing air back through the system. It wasn't me!

thought about that, but not convinced. Will replace anyway. Have tested engine on turn over with flywheel sensor connected and disconnected. Got no reading either way from Nanocom. Also don't seem to have any current in the wires. Any ideas??

I was going to suggest towing as mine wouldn't start off the starter but it looks like you've tried that.

Do is the engine stop solenoid working if they have one. The reason I ask is I had a motorbike that did exactly the same and it had a tilt switch to stop the engine in a accident. It did exactly the same as what your description is but on a motorbike. 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)

With having no contact via the ODB plug have you checked the earths from the ECM and the rest of the electrics in the drivers side seatbox?
