200TDi engine compression figures
Hi all

Does anyone know what the compression figures should be on a 200TDi engine. Took some figures and on cylinders 1-2-3 they were all the same about 320PSI and number 4 was 275. Its chuffing a bit so I suspect a head gasket on No 4 as its done it before many years ago. Its done 300K.

24 Bar (348psi) is what you're looking for but it's more a case of looking for the odd one out - which I think you've identified.
Head off!

Best of luck

Thanks for that info
While we are doing it we will take a look and change the piston rings, do a bit of glaze busting and fit new rings and see if that also improves things. It will also let us see the state of the con rod bearings and change them as well.
Haven't done an engine build for a while now, last one was a 3 litre V6 Essex engine for a series 3. Got it as a box of bits, put it together and it fired up and ran fine.
