Driving / spot lights
I'm after some advice please.

I aim to rpppeplace my current spotlights with lightforce 140s. My current ones are wired to come on with the main beam and work fine, they are wired in via a relay and 30 amp fuse.

I tested the lightforce one on a battery and they both worked, so I disconnected my current ones, and connected the Lightforce, switch main beam on and blew both bulbs and the 30amp fuse????

Replaced the fuse, reconnected the orginal lights, everything fine.

Replaced bulbs in Lightforce, and replaced one lamp, switched on to test and bulb blew again.

Anyone have an idea on what's going on???

Thanks Myers - Somewhere on Salisbury Plain

Possible - lights earth through the mounting, and you have supply cables for pos and neg around the wrong way [so in effect you are giving it a direct short] ?

Just an idea .... Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Thanks for the quick reply.

The lights are made from a plastic type material, so do not earth via the mounting. It appears not to matter which way around the connections are as the bulb has two prong fittings and fits either way. Myers - Somewhere on Salisbury Plain
