^^^^ I believe so too. Circa £2k IIRC.
Only thing you cannot do as I'm sure you are probably aware is deal with the gas and pressurise it. Specialist qualified job. Rarely ever need it here in the U.K. And I don't have it myself. |

I'd phone around the breakers. All partsxare available and easy to fit. I love my a/c keeps the windows clear in winter and chilled in summer.

It'd need de-pressurising first though, all the same a breakers isn't a bad ideal so long as everything was straight.

I've finally got around to ripping mine out, just the Cab portion for now but ultimately I'll rip out the under bonnet stuff and swap in a non A/C front nose/grill. Its an old 1999 TD5 unit and ive never had need of freezing my knees yet so all it does is block the footwell heater in the winter and take up legroom for the PX. 3 Landrovers

I must admit, im a fan of opening the window in summer, defenders design is great as the air doesn't blow in your face and mess up your hair!
Its more in winter, kids Dog all annoyingly breathing and steaming everything up you only need one wet coat! OK so list of parts 1) Air con nose/grill I have a KBX grill Do I just need the extended metal surround. 2) Radiator with AC attachments 3) Compressor 4) Compressor Bracket and bolts 5) Belt- Question anyone have a pic of where the belt is driven from?? 6) Blower Unit in engine bay I believe or is it behind dash? 7) Switch/ wiring loom  Regass
Probably not exhaustive list of parts, I have seen breakers parts circa £600 which doesn't seem that bad assuming its a DIY job if your handy with the spanners. |

I've retrofitted them before now. The compressor bolts to the engine and you replace the existing belt with the longer version.

Hello, I fitted a different type of aircon to my td5 110, different country though.
1.- I didn“t need the new grille, the condensator fitted well between the radiator and intercooler 2.- I used a general brand compressor, which is longer and have to be moved when changing the centrifugal filter 
3.- finally the evaporator is fitted at the back, so it doesn“t take knee space Augusto Defender 110 TD5 2001 Discovery 4 TDV6 |

We certainly use the A/C in Gracie, in summer,...and winter.
Just a few days ago we were cruising around in beautiful 38C (it's gonna be 44C this w/e!) weather in the Aussie countryside,.....definitely would not be without A/C here! So major use is in summer here, but it also comes in handy in winter for demisting the interior. Pickles. |
