My 110XS
Well Ladies and Gentlemen, having picked the 110 up on Saturday it's safe to assume I'm chuffed to bits!!
The 90 is still in the family with my brother, so here's to many trips in convoy with a cheery wave and a huge smile!

She's already had a full coating of ACF50 to every bolt and screw I could find and will be off to see the corrosion specialist as soon as the weather improves for long enough Thumbs Up

And now a poor photo!

Cheers guys!
Indeed it is Tom, the dealer made it a very special experience and spent as long as I needed going over it with them, even having the workshop guys come straight out and re-align the number plate (when my OCD kicked in!).

Nice to arrive and it be inside, rather than having to crawl around their car park too!
Safe to say I'm chuffed Very Happy

@Chris, I never got your PM, could you re-send please?

Well folks, I'm afraid you'll have to forgive the lack of updates on my defender... It's been a manic year! Moved back from Europe to the UK in February, and now moved to Paris... In between working away for months at a time...

Anyway, the 110 is working like a dream! No issues to report at all so looks like I managed to find a gem of a vehicle.
It's clocked up a few miles (although as it sits in the barn for a while not too many), with a trip to the Alps, Fontainbleau and Paris earlier this year.

As pictures speak louder than words, here's a few for you to enjoy of her (Laura... Longer version of Lara, my first Tomb Raider 90) working for her keep ... I've towing my toys, out and about and claening the two vehicles Smile

Series 1!

The next stages that I've now got the time to look at as work's slowed down a bit at last, are possibly lowering her a touch before I bring her to Paris inorder to fit her safely into the underground parking area, and also getting a double DIN facia to integrate a satnav into it.

Also next on the cards is a full sound insulation job to ensure that my partner can take it on longer trips without her ears bleeding too much at French motorway speeds!

Great looking truck! Might be slightly biased as it's the same as ours, albeit we have tinted windows and the standard boast alloys.

I hope to get the dynamat treatment very soon along with a few other bits to make a little more everyday usable. A Double DIN conversion, it is on my list but will have to wait a while! I look forward to seeing what you get and where you mount the reversing camera (assuming you'll get one).

Enjoy!

Thanks Smile

I've done a bit of research and think I'm going to go with Alpine (as I really like the unit thats in the truck now), and the user interface looks slick and easy to use on their Nav systems too.

The one I'm drawn to is the Alpine INE-W925R as it seems to have all the features I want bar a front USB slot, but I plan to add a connector into the side pannel and use the rear connector with an extension.

Definately going to get the additional rear camera, but I need to decide where to mount this to get the best view to the rear and also the tow hitch to make coupling easier!

Very tidy looking truck TR... Thumbs Up

Especially now you have a contrasting roof... Whistle

Full sound proofing will make a huge difference to your creature comforts and should reduce the ear bleed to a more acceptable level by some margin... Wink

As for rear camera positioning, mine is high for maximum reverse guidance and the extreme wide angle does allow some decent downward view, albeit the mounted spare will obstruct full view of the tow points, but will provide a decent enough guide to final position... Mr. Green

TR51 - I'll be interested to hear how you get on with it! So many top end cars with very expensive built in sat nav although looking very nice are hopeless at actually getting you to your destination. I have a very cheap Garmin sat nav and it just works brilliantly, enter the full post code and takes you right to it. The trouble is until you use it you don't really know how good it is.

Venomator - that is a very nice looking camera, nice and discreet and like you say must offer the best view for reversing. Do you have a photo of the view you get on the head unit? What head unit do you have? I've just trolled through your build again (still amazed by it all!) and see its a Pioneer but curious to model? Are you please with it? Does the Sat Nav work well? Sorry so many questions.

I've noted some head units allow two cameras which could offer a high level and then 'bumper' view for best of both worlds.

I am really tempted to just get the double din done now rather than waiting... argh where's my lottery win!

Hopefully the soundproofing will help... as it was one of the conditions for keeping it over the other vehicle... well keeping her and the 110 rather than just keeping the 110 anyway! Whistle

That camera position looks good, do you mind me asking what model it was?
I did consider mounting one on an auto reverse selector to aid parking, and having another linked to our phones when mounting but we agreed it was more hassle than it was worth tbh.
