Depends what kind of tyres you have on both sets I'd say. If they Boosts have tyres more suited to winter driving, then I'd say keep them, but if the Bowlers have the better tyre, just stay on those. Or you could go all out and put dedicated 235/85/R16 (narrow is better in snow) Winter tyres on the Boosts... Pete

I'm running new BFG AT KO2's on the bowlers, but standard from the factory Contis on the boosts.
I can't justify spending any more money on tyres this side of Christmas, but I know narrower tyres work better in the snow.. But as I can probably get £700 for the boosts as they have delivery miles on them.. I'm unsure if it's really worthwhile keeping both sets. |

Sell your boosts. You should always wear your best.
Like a good watch, you don't enjoy them if you keep them in a drawer. |

No, you are not daft. It makes sense also in your country to run a real winter tire from Nov to March. Without spending anything extra, first sell the boosts with delivery miles tires on them, then buy 4 original Land Rover black steel HD wheels (they are an official LR accessory) and with the remainder of your £700 buy some good dedicated 235/85R16 winter tires, like the Nokians for instance. Zero or very minimal extra outlay before xmas, a perfect set of boots for the winter, and you save your summer Bowlers from the winter salt, etc. Unless you want to cash in on those £700, that seems a perfect solution to have the best of both worlds without spending more. If you do a search on the forum here, you will turn up some dedicated threads about all this. 
Eric P.S. and the Wolfs with Nokians look good on any Defender in the winter.

I agree with Eric. But since you're running KO2s, they should be bloody good in the winter weather anyway (for a non-dedicated "winter" tyre anyway!), plus they have the rating. Sell the boosts and use the cash for something else for your Defender! Pete

I run mine with a spare set of Boosts and Nokian Unpronounceables through the winter.
It's proven to be the best way of ensuring we have a warm winter and no snow! |

Can't see the point in a "Good Set", It's an agricultural vehicle and should be in the
 and muck all year round! I can't understand why people try to keep a tractor like a car!
These things are working vehicles not toys to pose in, if you want to pose buy a Chelsea Tractor not a real one! Sorry for the rant but I use my LR as intended and get fed up with all the poofy stuff...  |

don't get me wrong, I like my defender to look good and I like a few gadgets, LED lights, reverse cameras, sound proofing etc and upgrades like the HD clutch, Ashcroft conversion on the intermediate shaft, upgraded brakes. But, it gets used as a tool every day all day, on road and off. It gets covered in mud and scratched down the sides from hedges all the time and I don't like it getting damaged but it is a work tool. I like to think It's used but not abused... What gets me is these people asking about lowering, softening, quietening because they spend their time in town or up and down the motorway, why do they even own a Land Rover? |

They own a Landrover because that is what they have chosen. Just because other people don't use their chosen vehicle the same way as you or want it to look like yours doesn't mean they shouldn't choose a Landrover. I fact if they want to lower, soften, quieten or anything else then surely a Landrover is a perfect vehicle as its one big meccano set. Ray

absolutely, but there are better options in my opinion, if I didn't need something rugged I certainly wouldn't drive a Land Rover out of choice!

I'd sell them. The tyres are thick enough to mean the alloys would miss most curbs anyway so Its unlikely you are going to hit damage them.
As far as other peoples opinion about what a Defender should be used for - mind your own! Each person has their own reason for buying a Defender - be it because they have always wanted one, like the image and are never going to show it so much as a dirty puddle as well as those that need one for their off road/work abilities. One persons reason is no less valid than anyone else's so who are you to be judge and jury? The more people the own them the better. To those that use them are work tools - don't forget those people that buy them new and keep them clean and dirt free are the very people you will be searching for when looking to replace yours because its had a hard life and is knackered now you can't buy new. |

Well that's just the difference between you and other people. There are better options than the mk1 golfs I own but they are the vehicles (other than land rovers) that I like and enjoy tinkering with so that's what I buy.
