Well I put it up at 2500 with best offer. It recently had:
4 new Bridgestone tyres
2 new rear calipers
2 new front wings fitted by vw under paint warranty
A full service including cam belt
New back box
It came from factory with air con, heated leather seats, six disc cd changer, passenger air bag switch off option (for those with young kids in the front seat) and factory sports suspension.
It's been maintained regardless of cost so I didn't think it was massively overpriced. Ray

E-Bay has always worked for me.

As has been said before decent pictures with an honest description but highlighting all the plus points of the car make a big difference.

You have to be sensible with the asking price, it's no good asking dealer money because if you do buyers will go to the dealer and get the warranty, px, and finance with no hassle.

I always try to price halfway between trade and retail when I sell a car, that way the buyer and the seller both win. The buyer gets a car below retail and the seller gets more than trade and WAY more than 'we buy anycar etc.' will pay.

I've found autotrader nowhere near as effective as ebay.....
