adding additional negative wire to the battery post
HI all. I need to connect another negative wire direct to the battery. Installing Blue Sea fuse box. I could go to the chassis, but I want to try and connect direct if I can. The terminal on my defender does not allow for any additional connections due to the special clamp LR use. Has anyone found an adapter to allow reconnection of the original cable but to allow take off to another lead? I am using 8mm cable and ring terminal. Thanks for any help...

cut it off and crimp a better one on

or connect to where earth lead connects to chassis ( think the bolt is long enough to put extra lead on and extra nut to save disturbing original nut )

I too found the same, and also followed the negative battery lead to the chassis. I used a longer (110mm IIRC) stainless fastening to make sure, and used lashings of corrosion block ACF50 grease on the fastening. Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

as a extra security measure its not a bad idea to run a extra earth from a different hole on battery box to chassis anyway , cutting off old terminal and fitting one with a bolt on is good thing to do
