Banging steering arms on bumps?
Hi,

I noticed recently that "something under my car" makes a banging noise whenever I drive over e.g. a speed bump a bit too enthusiastically Embarassed

I think it is either one or both of the steering/tracking rods/arms (Pitman and/or Panhard). The ball joints and seals seem OK (one was replaced a few months ago), but I can rock them back-to-front where they come together, making a noise very similar to what I hear when I hit a bump.

That's not normal, is it? What can I do about it? Defender 130 HCPU Td5 MY2000

It could be your front radius arm bushes. I had noises with mine as I went over bumps and it was the front radius arm bushes at the rear were it goes through the chassis.
