don't it make any difference
but if you have a dual rate spring where some coils one end are closer together then they tend to be fitted with closer coils at the top , but this doesn't matter , but better for looks if they all the same on some cars you have a top and bottom , but that's only as they have different coil sizes and different fitting top and bottom |

I had new ones but the bolt sheared so drilled out and replaced with nut and bolt rather than a bolt with a captive. 1999 Defender TD5 110
