Wheel bolts 2004 County
So, Just decided to take off OSF wheel (Effie 110 County 2004) to give me some more room to get all the c**p off the brake bleed nipple before soaking with PlusGas before I change the horrendous brake fluid.

Get trusty breaker bar and 27 mm socket ... 1st wheel bolt off just fine, had to jump up and down a bit but there you go.

Next wheel bolt .... nope 27mm socket don't fit on it enough as the 1st one. ... in fact can't get any of the other bolts off. Looking sat other wheels, seem to have a combination of 27mm and "slightly bigger" bolts. They all look the same ... but some are bigger.

Actually took out LR supplied wheel wrench .... nope it expects 27mm as well.

The wheels have been off as its had some new boots fitted before I bought her.

Have ebay'd a 28 mm and 29mm pair of sockets to see if they'll work so I can replace bigger ones with 27 mm ones. Good job I've never needed to change a wheel!

I'm assuming these were just some cheap bolts and not genuine LR ones. Strange though, even EBAY flags them all as 27mm

A

At lease Gertie and Santa both have 27mm nuts/bolts

Someone else mentioned this recently, are your wheels alloys?

Seems the nuts can swell so that a 27mm no longer fits.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

If you type "swollen nuts" into the search facility you will find several threads on this subject.

If you type "swollen nuts" into Google you will have a rather more disturbing experience!
