grinding noise in 5th at 70mph (80kmph)
Car drives normally, only in 5th when going over 2000rpm the grinding noise appears and I dare not go over 70mph (80kmph). In 6th all is normal again and I can go well over (tried 80mph / 95kmph but did not wanna go further fearing all hell could brake loose).

I first thought it was a poulie, but now I'm not sure anymore as in 6th the problem went away.
PS in the lower gears, going well over 2000rmp is no poblem.

It's going in to the dealers tomorrow, but wanted to know beforehand what it could be.

(2011 2.4 Puma - 61000miles/97500kms)

Update:
Also in 6th gear and wind catches the car (counter traffic).
So I don't think it's the gearbox and I suspect a poulie again.

Found it:

Went greenlaning a week back, did a few waterhazards resulting in the loss of my front licence plate.
I tieripped it to the roofrack and at speed it rattles.

Obviously something to get checked out .... but 70mph is 110km/h and not 80km/h. 110 km/h in 5th and you should change into 6th unless going uphill.

Sorry about that.
The kmph is correct, the calculation to mph not...
So it should've been: 50mph / 80kmph and 60mph / 100kmph

Belt tensioner pulley bearings can make really weird and wonderful noises when they start to go. Hopefully it is that minor!
