tool fetish again.
Right I'm looking for a recommendation for a really super quality adjustable spanner to effectively be my primary use tool in preference to carrying every size from 6mm to 24mm and half as many in af with the associated weight saving. Ideally one that is not prone to opening itself so it slips and takes the corners off and also one with fairly slim jaws so it's able to get into awkward places better. Cheers. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I've had a Britool one for years, it was my dads before that, we are both fitters so it's had years of use and still good as new!
Like they say the old ones are the best! Laughing

BUT.......I went to my local hydraulic supplier in the week and on the counter they have 2 sizes of ratcheting adjustables!
I was a bit sceptical about it, but they told me to try one on a nut and bolt.....all I can say is it was very impressive and quite clever how it actually works!

I didn't have enough money to buy them at the time, but will definitely buy one, great piece of kit.

Can't remember who the make was? But very good quality and Finnish.

I will get one next week and let you know Thumbs Up

P.s I seem to remember in one of the Land Rover mags a few months ago ,they did a test of around 7 or 8 different brands.
I will dig a copy out and have a look! 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

I work in the marine industry and every engineer carries an adjustable. Our weapon of choice is always 'Bahco' as it stand up to the rigours of the harsh environment we work in is made of high-grade steel, precision hardened and corrosion protected.

The one with the reversible jaw is very handy as it can also can be used as a pipe wrench.....The one below is 10" long and opens to 30mm. Thumbs Up

I have a tool fetish, an 'adjustable' isn't in my collection. They do more damage than good and I'd be a bit upset if a 'mechanic' approached any of my cars with an 'adjustable'.
They're ok for 'rough' plumbers.

Oh I ain't getting rid of the spanners they will be going back into the non mobile tool collection. The adjustable will be for more farmery jobs, proper jobs get proper tools. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I have been reading reviews on the bacho 9031 and it seems that they have moved some of their production away from Sweden and consequently the quality of the materials being used has dropped off significantly, which is a worry. Has anyone used the equivalent product adjw8wj from eclipse by spear and jackson as it is being banded about as a better made alternative? Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I haven't tried the Eclipse adjustable, but have recently bought an Eclipse Stillson which I was a bit suspicious about because it was cheap.

I haven't had a chance to abuse it yet, but on first impressions it seems good, certainly a whole lot better than the last cheap one I had the displeasure of using.

Edit: and if you're patient, CPC often have Eclipse stuff on special offer.
