My new 2005 Td5 XS

Should have posted here earlier...

Looked for a while for a Defender. Have had a D3 and a D4 for around the last 7 years but wanted to "get back to basics"

Finally found a clean low mileage (43,000) 2005 XS in dark green at a main dealers, so came with 12 months warranty.

So far have removed some of the trimmings of the last owner ("Land Rover" off the bonnet, "XS" off the dash, Horse's head

off the A bar), fitted a new stereo, replacement speakers and subwoofer, added the roofrack and ladder and added a work light. Warranty has fixed a dodgy seat belt, replaced front and back screens that had dodgy heaing elemnents, new immobiliser on one key fob and new passenger door catch

To do is a second battery install (just ordered from Mobile Centre), move the towing electrics that got bent when trying some local Green Lanes and it's off to see Zegato for some Dinitrol work. Would also like to replace the rubber A bar with a steel one.

Love the car. Getting too many ideas from this forum though. Hence the second battery install...)

Funny you should mention....

The village pub closed recently and we have had the odd "pop-up-pub" in there. The light harks back to my Yorkshire roots...

Nice defender...love the colour!
I also got mine from a dealer (Nov 2013) but so far have only managed to put on a steering guard, treat the chassis to some Bilt Hamber treatment (did it myself) and serviced it. Personally, getting a late TD5 is a sound investment.
