[For Sale] Hilmor/Anglia Bender, Gwyn Lewis Challenge, TF +5
For Sale

Anglia / Hilmor Hydraulic Rotory Pipe Bender

Up for sale is my rather beastly Pipe bender. It’s an Anglia Power Bend (also known as a Hilmor Rotory Hydraulic No.3). It’s an absolutely fabulous piece of English heavy-duty machinery!

I bought this a couple of years ago looking to do several projects, but alas, my welding skills just don’t match and I’ve decided to get a cage professionally made. I also want to do a welding course in which the money from this will be going towards! It has however completed a couple of smaller projects with ease and built several very very strong storage units out of old Blue Band (using various scaffold clamps as feet)!

This thing will bend anything you can chuck at it! Though you would need to source suitable dye sets!

It comes with 2 dye sets. A 2” set and a 1 3/8” set. The perfect sizes for cage use! Also great for building roof racks to (Heavy Duty versions :p). The 1 3/8” dye has a crack on the rotary section, but I’ve used it without any problems at all.

The bender is 100% functional and is a very good example of one. I’ve seen a couple go through sales, which look like they suffered many years of abuse. This one hasn’t! It was refurbed several years ago and then got some light use by the previous owner. I then acquired it and it’s generally sat in storage since!

Rams are good, adjusters are good, followers are smooth, there’s no pitting, no rust, no leaks particularly. Movement is smooth and it works just great!

Will happily bend thick and thin wall alike without any creasing or deformation like the bottle jack types do!

This is industrial/professional grade kit! Very rare to boot!

I can deliver a reasonable distance for diesel money or can pallet it up, though it’s very heavy!

After somewhere around £550 for the unit and dye’s.

Give Dave Billings a call at Tornado Motorsport a ring about your pipe bender...

He has a monster bit of kit but might need something smaller for those quick and simple jobs or to save the aggro of changing the mandrel. The worst he can say is 'no' but the best option might be that he would make your cage for you - if you do sell the pipe bender for cash, I would suggest that it's still worth taking to Dave about getting stuff made as he has skill and capability that most of us can only dream about!

Good luck with the sale(s)

Actually I can see its only 87.00 new Smile, so I think your price might need revising unless I am looking at the wrong thing on the raptor website Laughing

I live about a mile from Tornado and have spoke with Dave before especially considering the cage. He's not a fan of making cages and it was very awkward trying to talk him into the business. Very nice bloke, but just don't think he enjoys them. He much prefers doing his own Tornado Evo's etc. Cant blame him as they're superb!

I might drop him a line about the bender and see what he says.

I have however found another bloke who's happy to do the cage so going down that route.

Hi Andy! This is what Gwyn Lewis writes:

Gwyn Lewis wrote:
These are very important for all + 5 inch LONG TRAVEL SHOCK ABSORBERS, the washers are used to centralize the shock in the shock mount, they help stop the pin of the shock absorber wearing the hole in the upper and lower mounts by holding the pin of the shock in the center of the hole, 2 per shock absorber are required, they are fitted as in the picture and the reverse on the bottom mount, on later rear axles the original cup washers are spot welded in by 4 spot welds, these must be removed as they restrict articulation and will cause the pin of the shock to brake off, once they are removed you can then fit these new ones as they will allow more movement for the shock bush to flex.

Nope your not. Mine does however include the under tray and the SS bolt upgrade. Open to offers though, I have one through PM already though so they have dibs for the moment if we come to an agreement Smile.
