quick question,
No reverse light and brake lights not working. Where should I be looking?? Andy |

Yeah, as above I'd say earthing especially seeing as it is two different lighting circuits.
I'd try adding a temp earth and see if that solves your issues, also check or unplug your trailer socket if you have one. |

the earth for rear lights is on the drivers side (rhd) of the transfer box beside the seat box

Hi ,
Its a TD5 and there is a wire taken from the Negative terminal of the battery into the box under the drivers seat but its a bodge and the wire has chaffed where it comes out of the passenger side into the other side so I will replace this before doing anything else. Andy |

That's your problem that's the earth for the reversing and brake lights I would say..

same problem 2003 TD5 90 HT earth retune missing across rear beam from driver side
earth header is behind radio. I jond new wire in loom at towing socket driver side rear, used small split conduit to run the cable from one side to the other in side the rear beam heat shrink connectors are good for job  |

having just read this I'm really hopeful it's solved my long standing 'problem'......
I've been 'playing' with the transfer box recently (like 2 days ago.....wiggling it to check on rubber mounts, lubricating the linkage etc and it seemed to fix my 'problem' (rattling like injector knock, poor gear change etc) until this moring - no brake lights. having read above and the mention of earth for brakes next to transferbox 
I wonder whether this will be the answer to all my LR woes ? it would possibly tie in with the intermittent circuit fault once spotted on the clutch switch (I presume it uses the same fuse?). If only I could find the chance to crawl underneath today - but can't. that said is it possible from below or will it have to be from above? many thanks. |

the earth is on the side of the transfer box drivers side , quite easy to get to from underneath
