There are two bulbs that light up the speedo..

When you work out how to replace the bulbs in the clock let me know as that is the only dash clock without LED bulbs. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Backlit instrument dials! Whatever next - doors that close properly? Shocked

When I were a lad we had to work a 25hr day, come home so our fathers could beat us, and then go to sleep in a cardboard box.... Wink

Only want to match the clock with the rest of the lighting...Is that too much too ask?

So can you replace the bulbs? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Upgraded dash to LED, clock already has LED 4x smd. To make clock a little brighter I remove some of the coating on the back of the dial.

Actually the lighting for the fuel gauge is not a 509T bulb, these are only used in the speedometer head (two of them in there).

The lighting for the other gauges (and the heater controls) is by smaller 1.2W 'wedge' bulb. Usually referred to under a reference of 286. Available at all decent motor factors, online (VWP etc.) and even in Halfords I believe.

With Green Led's, Looks standard, but you can see it!

Bit of a shocking photo taken from the side slightly, it looks a bit bright because I caught where the light comes into the gauge but it is a very nice change. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

DOH Wrong Instrument Bulb Thread Banging Head

Anyway, for reference above is the effect of putting Led's into standard pre td5 instruments.
