Will LR change the sump after warranty?
Just noticed that my 'new' 2007 Puma DC has an original sump, fortunately without dings or scratches. Anyone know if LR will change this FOC now that the warranty has expired?

If it was a recall I woudl expect them to, but if just a service action I am not so sure. I haven't yet checked the brake pipe issue but will do that next.

Thanks,

Strange it was not changed before. If you do not do extreme off roading probably you are safe. Anyway it should be around 30 quid Puma 110" SW

Maybe the previouse owner never serviced it at a dealer who would have done it as part of the service

Does anyone know if this was a recall?

If so it should still be done regardless of age or warranty.

A few years back I was running a V8 Disco 1 that was 11 years old. Land Rover issued a recall due to potential fuel tank leaks and my local dealer fitted a new fuel tank free of charge. Only thing I would have had to pay for was the labour for removal & replacement of a tank guard or tow bar (although I had neither).

Not so sure if it just a technical bulletin? MAD COW

No it was a recall in the UK

I had the call from the supplying dealer back in the day...shame it had already been done.

There is a post on here from me about the recall status

and as if by magic:

I did form the impression from the info on this forum that the sump and the possible chafing of brake pipes were both recall items rather than service items. If so, I would expect LR to do the work irrespective of age and warranty status.

My 'new' DC was sold new by Hereford Landrover and received its first service from them (the invoice was included with the vehicle documents, and included the fitting of a new clutch slave cylinder). Subsequent services were carried out by an independent 'all-makes' garage (which I know) so any other service actions will have been missed.

There is the usual oil stain on the bonnet indicating the vac pump seal failure, but I wiped much of the oil off and it doesn't seem to have come back, so I suspect that the vac pump has been changed too.

Thanks for your comments, everyone. This foruim continues to impress me with both with the breadth of accumulated knowledge and the helpfulness of the contributing members!
