Rear brakes Sticking on TD5
This has happened about 3 times now.

After parking, I have noticed some drag on the car, drivable in low gears.

Anyhow, once around the block and the brakes free up.

Today managed to get under the truck and found rear brakes very hot - enough to burn finger on offside, near side also seemed hot, but didn't fancy two blisters.

Ideas guys, is it mechanical or something else? (only happens after parking) Bow down

I originally thought handbrake, but I don't generally use it as have had problems with that as well (although ok at the moment).

Today was the first time I had chance to get under car when it had happened.

Definitely rear brakes as 'red hot' front brakes just warm.

Very common problem on rear callipers. If you have a look i would say the pistons in the calliper are corroded. Either buy 2 new callipers (always replace in axle pairs) or 2 new piston and seal kits (SEE500140)

Don't bother Steve. Fit new, some times a good clean with wire brush will work, but it is BRAKES.

Allmakes ones are ok.

The seals aren't too difficult to do. Just need to be very clean when you do it.

I always find it best to shot blast them and paint them while your at it.

Another thing you can consider is stainless steel pistons.
