You could go for an Irish plate as they have 'I' 'Z' in them and are as cheap as chips. I bought a plate that has the letters BIG followed by four numbers which cost me £55.00 plus the transfer fee.
Or you could go for LAN 1 which is available at present for £60000 ![]() |

Very nice motor OldhamLandy, btw do you recommend a rear step bumper?
Haha Go Beyond - I can see how plates can become a bit of a fetish, I only have as many as I've got cars though - erm 1 As for the days of them being fashionable Boyd well I think it just depends on the plate - cheap plates that don't really make a proper word just reflect the owners budget. But initials, witty words or names are cool in my book. 2015 110 XS CSW Montalcino Red with Black Pack |

acuss01 - I went for the NAS rear step as I liked both the aesthetics as it finishes off the back of the motor nicely and the fact that you can rest items on the step if you wish, such as large boxes etc. as you wrestle them into the back.
A personalised plate, is just that - personalised (each to their own - go for what you like, that's the fun of it). You will always have some haters of what you like, but you do with everything in life - as long as you like it and think it looks good, that's all that matters. 2016 Defender 90xs SW - Santorini Black with Silver Pack 2014 Defender 90xs SW - Corris Grey with Santorini Black Roof |

Right on with the 'each to their own' philosophy OldhamLandy that's what owning a Landy is all about.
Thanks didn't know step was NAS product. Does it get in the way of loading into boot? Would it make tow bar stick out a mile? Cheers 2015 110 XS CSW Montalcino Red with Black Pack |

acuss01 - The rear step is a genuine Land Rover item - it does protrude a little, but you get used to it - apologies guys for going off topic slightly.
That's the great thing about a Landy is you can personalise it as much or as little as you want. 2016 Defender 90xs SW - Santorini Black with Silver Pack 2014 Defender 90xs SW - Corris Grey with Santorini Black Roof |

A dateless plate is the only way to go really, and retain and sometimes increase in value, while having a bit of fun
Age related, but keeping an appeal to a wide market, also works to a lesser extent, as in the MUD/DEF plates for defender's, I bough LR110 XS when they were released by DLVA,, Northern Ireland plates tend to be, as well as look,, cheap !! Dated initials are, which mean nothing to anyone but the owner is dead money The DVLA auctions are fun, but like all, set a limit, some make , what you think are daft money !! bought a few of the "collection" via that source Recon the biggest buyer of personalised plates are proper Range Rover owners,, next time you are out,, see how many RR have Private Plates, the vast majority you will find !! Some folk are attention seeking, others like to take a more under-stated approach. Some folk's plates reveal they are in the premier division, others are obviously in the poor people's Sunday pub league.
Either way the DVLA makes a lot of money from this increasing fashion for 'in your face' self promotion. Another feature is when poor people start substituting letters for numbers in a sad attempt to spell their name - often badly done and so cryptic only the owner knows what the plate is trying to say. |

I bet you would go down a storm in Ireland ![]() I have an Irish plate fitted to my Defender, and I do not think it looks cheap most people who comment say it suits the Land Rover. ![]() Click image to enlarge |

I've decided not to bother in the end!
As most have pointed out, what's the point really?! I've found nothing on the searches that doesn't make me think "I'd look like a knob"! ![]() |

How about one of these (now that they are no longer needed by Top Gear)
