2010 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Orkney Grey

CB wiring help

For some reason my CB has ceased working. I thought at first it was a loose wire on the battery as i just nipped the cables into the battery bolts. But, both positive and neutral were still firmly in place. I then checked the fuse, no probs there.

But then, as i moved the set around, and the metal part of the aerial socket on the rear of the set touched a bolt on the bodywork of the defender near the seatbelt, it sprung i to action. I guess it was earthing? But, why will it not work with both wires properly connected as they are?

I would check the grounding at the aerial, this can cause a number of problems.

the wires may be connected to battery but is there power and earth getting the set from the battery , broken wire etc

sorry really don't know much about cb's themselves

I w3uld try a more local earth to the bulk head...easy on a Td5 (thats where mine is earthed) not so sure about a puma, or a temporary flying lead to the chassis. This will at least tell you something.
