Received my carrier and gas strut today and fitted them already. Really easy to do and set up. As already mentioned the quality is excellent. Thumbs Up
Thanks to Barbara and Brendan for organising it all Bow down

Hi Andrew, you forgot to thank Peter who has them made Razz

As a matter of interest how long do you think it takes just to fit the wheel carrier?

What do you think is the hardest part in fitting this wheel carrier.

I have fitted a couple now, normally I get interrupted several times so I would be interested in your view of time taken and what is the hardest part involved in fitting it.

Thanks

Brendan

You are right Brendan, I forgot Peter, however the reference to the excellent quality of the product hopefully makes amends for that faux pas.
Fitting time was around two hours including the gas strut. Switching between the two allowed a bit of time for the primer and spot of hammerite in the drilled areas to dry. The cross member was warm in the sun so it did not take long.
There was no real difficulties, other than the kids interrupting! Perhaps the instructions may be clearer particularly the pictures. What got me was the use of the washers in the bolt kit. That was sorted really by referring to posts from previous installations. The really big washers i used behind the crossmember, out of view. It worries me when there are bits left over Laughing There was a couple of creamy white items not visible in the pictures or mentioned in the text. I assumed they needed to be pressed into the holes that the adjustable arms fix into on the fixed plate on the door and the swing arm. I was not too worried about the position of the plate on the cross member as there seems to be plenty of adjustment elsewhere.
I did put a light spray of grease behind the attachment to the cross member, hopefully to reduce corrosion.
Time will tell if I have set it up correctly, regarding rattles etc. It feels pretty solid, but a bit of tweaking may be needed. However its all simple to adjust.
I was very interested with the packing in the box, unusual to have maps to protect the product. The kids loved them!!! Rolling with laughter

We do aim to please the whole family Thumbs Up

Hopefully the maps will help them in their geographical and language knowledge Thumbs Up

The holes that are enlarged should have decent rust protection measures taken. Ideally the whole of the rear cross member could be cleaned, painted and rust prevention measures taken prior to fitting the wheel carrier..

Yes the bottom 'saddle' and rubber bump stops might need tweaking. It can be easier to adjust the wheel carrier with the spare wheel off.

Feedback from customers improves our knowledge and helps us to improve advice and instructions to future customers.

Just fitted the wheel carrier
Fitting was fairly straight forward adjustment was a bit fiddly but then I like things spot on...the stops need to be tight against the door plate. It took about 2 to 3 hours in total...The wheel carrier is of quality build and the instructions were fine...
My only concern is maybe getting spare parts should things wear out etc,,,,,and are there any serviceable parts.

Many thanks

Dave

Eventually got around to fitting my wheel carrier today, everything went well except for one of the M8x25mm dome headed screws which decided to bind on the excess underseal which was present on the threads, after a bit of swearing I managed to round out the head with my Censored Teng Allen drivers leaving me to drill it out !! Evil or Very Mad

All in all even with the messing around and the time spent on the fine setup it only too 3 hours which included painting in the drilled out holes, washing and waxing the door and then a full wipe over of the carrier and cross member with ACF50. Very Happy

Really happy with the quality and it was relatively easy to fit and setup (even with my wee problems and the still soft Dinitrol) Rolling Eyes

Thanks for the great service Brendan Thumbs Up

You'd have to approach Brendan directly as he doesn't sponsor here anymore. Darren
