TD5 Immobiliser
Hi folks,

Is this a known problem with a known fix?

Recently my truck has started to become tricky to start.

Key in ignition, orange engine light comes on, and the glow plugs come on and go out.

Then red immobiliser light then flashes on, and car won't start.

I tried unsettling the alarm, still not solved, tried about four or five times, eventually she did clear and fire up.

Any ideas what could be doing this?

Cheers

There's many possibilities, perhaps the battery in the keyfob?

Yeah, I was wondering about that.

The thing is on each occasion it hasn't had the alarm armed / deactivated.

It's a strange one!!

As mentioned, a new battery in the key fob is not a bad starting point. Normally, when the battery is low, there is a tell tale flash of some sort from the indicators when you arm the alarm (can't recall what it is but it's noticeably different)

Also, I assume the plipper is still in close proximity to the ignition barrel for the immobiliser to detect its signal (as in, you've not recent taken the plipper off the ignition key ring and shoved it in your pocket for example). Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.
