If your BBUS is in the usual place, behind the left headlamp, you can check the cables to that. you should get 3 black cables going to that. you can initiate the 'disconnecting battery sequence', ignition to pos II then to off and dis connect that connector within 15 sec.

then keep the volumetric sensor connected. and check if the alarm still goes off.

check the connector to the bbus carefully and see if it's all ok.

take a look at the Td5 wiring diagrams if you are unsure what goes where. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At 125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island.

Update

Horn no longer works at all (think it may be duff, fuses are fine)

Can't get the alarm to sound by moving to posII then zero then disconnecting sensor with the car locked or unlocked

If I lock the car and then unplug the battery negative the BBUS does not sound
If I lock the car and then unplug the battery negative and positive the BBUS does not sound

If I lock the car and then try to start the car the BBUS DOES sound continuously

If I leave a door open and lock the car the BBUS sounds twice

Thats about as much info as I have, no further really Defender 90 XS TD5 (03 Reg)

unplugging the BBUS directly, does the BBUS sound? it should, if it doesn't the BBUS battery could be dead.

have you checked that all the door sensors are working correctly? if passive immob is enabled, the red light on the speedo should flash once per second when the driver door is closed. there's no easy way to tell for the other doors. you have to try them one by one. unless you cheated like me and wired them all to the driver door switch, which makes life easier to tell me that one of the door is not shut.

do you have any diagnostic tool? you can try to run the alarm test or there should be a way to drop the alarm into diagnostic mode by some combination of pressing down the switches and turning the key. Never tried that before but i read of it. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At 125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Sorry for the late reply, have been away.

If I unplugged it from the system it didn't sound...

Will try the sensors later this week.

No I don't have a Nanocom or similar I'm afraid, can't afford it at the moment.

I'll try to find something about the diagnostic alarm mode

Many thanks Defender 90 XS TD5 (03 Reg)
