The above is from LR Stafford site under servicing and is still a current price match which can be used against an independent providing the above terms are met.

Clearly, it now seems this is a promise that a number of dealers do not wish to continue to be apart of.

Even if other dealers did want to be part of it, don't you think it's a bit of a thing to do to an independent? Wasting their time by ask for a written quote with the sole intention of using that to place your business elsewhere.

When I think of price matching I think more along the lines of trying to persuade John Lewis to price match Currys by showing them the price online, not wasting the time of a (probably small) business with no intention of using them.
