But even if not a Td5 it would be a 300Tdi. So air intake should be on same side as a Td5.

Under bonnet photo would be good to see, perhaps it has Td5 air box but without the trunking to outside of the engine bay so just drawing air in through the aperture in the side of the air box.

1999 Defender 90 Td5 HT Rioja Red
Had a look, air box is there but the pipe work is missing so it's just drawing air straight in from behind the engine, not sure if this is an issue, apart from affecting my OCD!

Cannot believe I missed this when I looked it over, sometimes the most obvious is the hardest to spot! Sad
