if its going on to aluminium plate then you will need an etch primer. With out this the spray paint will just fall off.
Go to a proper auto paint factor, they will advise you - I imagine you'll just get a blank look from halford staff |

Cheers Nicks. So I spray the aluminium first with etch primer then a black spray paint? Will that work?

Don't paint powder-coat but if you do that you might as well buy new
Paint will chip however its applied if you intend to use the CP as intended (ie not just to look good) I paint / Powder-coat enough alloys to have a vague idea |
