Tdci 90 Vague steering, wanders a little
Hi guys

Working through all the little niggles with my 2.4 90. Driving down the road the steering is a little vague especially to the left. Its only done 47k and is an 11plate.

Ive checked all the track rod ends and steering drop arm ball joint and there doesnt seem to much play if any. Im planning on fitting heavy duty steering bars and track rod ends, also changing the ball joint too as a matter of due course.

Anyhow, when steering hard lock either left or right there was alot of play at both ends of lock, say a couple of inches.

Is this normal as my previous defenders ive had with steering problems as far as i can remember didnt do this?

If it needs tightening, is it the same as the old boxes?

Have you checked the tyre pressures?

My 110 was handling like a barge a while back, i faffed about for ages with different things, changed the front dampers (which were in fact past their best) but it was still wishy washy.

Then i checked the pressures and all 4 wheels were different! pumped them up to 48/28psi, and it immediately made it better.

Tyres are all good. It's just another one of those odd faults that appear.

Anyone know if it's different to adjust the steering box on the tdci?
