So the dealer has failed to follow the fitting instructions then
![]() Interestingly... I'd be seriously worried they have bodged the panel behind the indicator... read as - if they have fitted the 'filament' type indicator on the outside edge they 'will' have bodged the back of your Defender!!" - if I am right, I would be rather annoyed!! ![]() The reason the indicator is supposed to be moved inboard is that filament NAS lamp does not fit in the original hole (i.e. where standard indicator fits).. so this leads to people badly increasing the size of the hole. See below picture - this was done by a well know LR specialist when the vehicle was new!!! (which I've got the task of putting right). 6 holes... for 2 screws. Cut with a blut knife. ![]() Click image to enlarge Also, they could not have used the proper multi fit plinth as the filament NAS lamp will not fit. Basically, the LR kit puts the indicators into the plinths originally used by the Reverse/Fog lamp as the plinths and holes behind the plinth are designed for the bigger bulb/filament type lamp. They then use a multi hole plinth that lines up with the mounting holes for the original small lamps. There is no need to make the hole in the LR any bigger as the back of the LED lamps are much shallower, and do not protrude... hence why the reverse and fog get put on the outside. Stop and tail stay in the original place. ![]() Click image to enlarge Pinched from Tim's site - this is the proper plinth for a LED lamp... the multiple holes allow for fitment without modification. This might make more sense if I get some photo'.... or, I would unscrew the indicator and have a look behind. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() The home of the first modified Keswick Green 90 - and the first 2.4 Puma through both the 200bhp and 550Nm barriers. www.IRBdevelopments.com www.facebook.com/irbdevelopments www.integrated316.com www.facebook.com/integrated316 |

Also...
If you go to here: http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/vehicle/lookupForm (you do not need to log in) Select Defender/L316 And then 2010 (must use 2010 option - as for some reason isn't on for any other year) Click Find The top right - click "owner" Then "Accessory Fitting Instructions" Then "Auxiliary Lighting" Followed by "2. VPLDV0030 - LED Rear Light Kit" Or actually - SCRUB THAT you could just click here lol - didn't think it would work: http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/co...tabs=false You can then show the dealer the guide... ![]() Ian IRB The home of the first modified Keswick Green 90 - and the first 2.4 Puma through both the 200bhp and 550Nm barriers. www.IRBdevelopments.com www.facebook.com/irbdevelopments www.integrated316.com www.facebook.com/integrated316 |
