I have recently videoed my idle issue that I think (but don't know) is and injector(s) problem. Trying to upload for the good folk on defender.net to hopefully direct me in the right fix direction.. how do I upload? (sign up to youtube?) can it not be done the same as uploading photos?

Lumpy at idle, the sound of an old tractor! X2 blips not really necessary but I simply couldn't resist!

When the AAP sensor on the air box is disconnected it idles perfect, have priced up a new sensor but both specialists said they have never replaced one before and that when disconnected it puts the ECU into default mode which over-comes under-lying problem..

Any ideas?

adseybear am I correct in thinking this sounds different to your injector problem?

Hi all, since my last post I have bought a Nanocom mk1 and with the help of the previous Nano owner and manual have been trying to learn as much as possible as to what it all means and how to use it!

After nothing jumped out from the screen I decided to do a few 30second tests, first was to re-fit the old injector loom and clean out the injector plug sockets -- done and still the same.

Double checked the red plug at the ECU, No oil.

I have already changed injector seals with genuine.

I have used the Nanocom to trigger the injectors whilst engine was off and all clicked.

Now that I am a little more au fait with the Nanocom I decided to note the live results and post them below to see if I can get an answer or maybe a comparison from other TD5 + Nanocom owners.. Worth a shot!

Whilst problem was occurring:

IDLE RPM 730 not steady
ROAD SPEED 0
IDLE SPEED ERROR -13 to -15 constantly fluctuating between
BAT VOLTS @ BAT 13.63 constant
BAT VOLTS NANO 13.4 - 14.4 constantly fluctuating between
AIR FLOW METER 56 - 60
AMBIANT AIR PRESSURE 99
MANIFOLD PRESSURE 100
AIR INLET TEMP 19.7
COOLANT TEMP 57
FUEL TEMP 47
ACCEL WAY1 0.567
ACCEL WAY2 4.471
ACCEL WAY3 4.657
ACCEL SUPPLY 4.989
INJECTOR BALANCE
1 -10 to -2
2 -1 to 6
3 -3 to 6
4 0 to 9
5 -6 to 1

Id say from my minimal experience that the Idle error seems erratic, battery volts on Nano seem to wonder quite abit and the injector balancing is all over the place.
Nano pdf manual says : from -4 to +4 with constant rpm. Higher values means that the relative injector doesn’t work correctly

Can anyone tell me what the Idle error is all about, where it gets its signal from and if these figures read ok ? (crank position sensor or spacing problem?)

Should the battery volts at the Nanocom stay a constant voltage? (charging or earthing problem?)

Are my injector balancing figures way out ? (Main injector loom/injectors/ECU/)

Can I smell the smell of a solution yet?!

Hello again! Now see the motive for your Nanocom post.

Is the clue not in the para above? Whilst it would be rare AFAIK for the AAP sensor to go, it is obviously wired to the ECU (pin 10?) and the problem could be in the wiring. An overlay loom perhaps?

This may be of help http://www.landroverweb.com/Pdf-files/Defe...iagram.pdf

In the event of a failure of many of the engine sensors (or presumably out-of-range inputs from the sensor/wiring combo), the ECU will fill in a default value for that sensor, reducing absolute performance a bit but getting round what it sees as a problem. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop
Now a 2013 110 USW too.
