2wd Land Rover?!
http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/land-rover...car/249556

Thought this was some sort of mistake at first!

But will anyone actually pay the extra for a 4wd one?

If the same option would be available for the Full Fat Range Rover, how many people would pay extra for 4 wheel drive, even though most will never leave the tarmac?

How will a 2wd Landy get on when we get our global warming induced Arctic winters?

Mind you, I guess this is the real world, and if it makes Land Rover money then I don't suppose we can complain, eh?

If I look around in my neighbourhood I see a lot off 2wd SUV's. If it sells: Yes, Land Rover do it.
I won't buy one however. I would prever 4WD.

On holiday on Java however I was driving a 2WD toyota Kijang it has good ground clearance and I was amazed what it could do. I got through were a suzuki vitara got stuck just because off my driving experience off-course. Whistle Roel

Yes, I see BMW do the X1 in rear drive (S-Drive) and 4wd (X-Drive). Can't wait for some smug "I've got a clean non-polluting SUV" to have the smile wiped off their face when they get stuck at the sign of a slight frost and have to be towed out with my wife's front drive Focus or my Defender Wink

I looked at a Kuga and the salesman was so keen on flogging me a 2wd version, stating how clean they are and how it isreally setting a treend for low-emission SUVs.

Sod that! If I want a 2wd Kuga I buy a Focus estate, it scheaper, more economical, faster, less polluting and handles better (because although the Kuga is a Focus estate its higher and heavier!)

I would almost argue that offering a 2wd SUV is worse for the Environment, as it encourages those in a normal estate 3-series, Focus, etc. which would output far less CO2 and return better economy to give it up for the dirtier than their nromal car 2wd SUV on the groudns that its cleaner than the 4wd SUV. I wonder how many people with a 4x4 SUV actually change it for the 2wd variant?

Soap box away now Wink

Doubt this will happen.....Land Rover was looking at that option when designing the Freelander but it was deemed that it wasn't fitting with the companies reputation so they sacked it and went for only 4WD.
