You've hit the nail on the head there... But it's not a Defender! An engine to TDi for!

I'll wave at Evoques when I'm in MK if it makes you feel better?

If it helps, I've just got back into a defender after just over 10 years. Had to sell the last one as it just became impractical at the time. It and a motorbike were our only form of transport and with a new family member on the way and a big increase in mileage it just wouldn't have worked out. It was a heart breaking day.
So 10 years later I've got myself back in one. This time my wife has a nice car for work and we have a new VW caravelle as our family car (such a great car). But fortunately we now have the ability to cure my need for a defender. Do you know what I love it even more now I don't have to use it all the time (although it is my choice of car when I don't need the practicality of the others). So my advice, keep your Evoke, your head will beat you up if you end up doing loads of miles in a defender. Just get a cheaper defender you can afford as well (I'm presuming as your are considering taking a hit on the Evoke you could be a bit indulgent), it doesn't have to be a nice new one to make you feel special, they all do that..... ![]() It's the best of both worlds. |

I have to agree, the dealers lent me a Freelander 2 whilst my Defender was being fixed. It was a great car with super toys but it wasn't a Defender!
I know my Defender's not a sensible car but it is a Defender! I even grin when I'm driving to work. ![]() Series 3 Lightweight, 1999 - 2011 200 TDi 90, 2012 - 2014 Puma 90, 2015 Wolf 90, 2017 - |

How about hiring one for a week and find out just how practical it would be for the commute and parking, if its doable then go for it , feed your soul and get a defender

Get your self a weekend Defender. Look for a good condition 300/TD5 or Puma. Or you could go the whole way and get a SIII.
Any of the above will bring you enjoyment. When I retire I want to buy a SIIa or SIII and fettle it, not sure I want the whole restoration bit, but as said above you are now infected with defender-itis and there is no known cure! BM52 |

I reckon some sound advice on here sometimes as mentioned above, get weekend Defender
![]() You'll lose £5k on the Ewok, that'll buy you a nice weekend 'itch scratcher' and you'll still have a great car for weekday mile crushing with toys. The 90 in the 'For Sale' looks good ![]() (Oh and we're the other way round at the moment, waiting for a Disco4 to be built so we are using the Defender as a full time car and it's great but hard work and I can't wait for the civilised car to arrive) |

Great advice and in an ideal world the perfect solution. Trouble is, I maxed out when I bought the Evoque and certainly couldn't afford to spend any more on another vehicle as well. Not to mention the fact I have a 40 year old Beetle that we restored that is my weekend car
