going to try Yoga/Any advice
Going to my first Yoga class on Sunday.
Its going to be the Hot Yoga type as an add on to my normal fitness regime.

Anyone had a go or been going for a long time. All advice welcome as totally new to me.

I would say ask the experts who are running the class, they know what they are doing. Did they not give you an advice sheet when you signed up ?

This is the one given out at my local yoga centre

I thought about doing some type of yoga as I have a shoulder/neck problem but my physio advised against it - I now do Pilates instead and it is brilliant! I do still get pain / stiffness from time to time but now I am better equipped to deal with it and get better a lot quicker! I have a good core stability ! Good fun! i did Ashtanga Yoga for a year or so after recovering from sciatica...a bit more about excersize and flexibility, not so much about meditation Exclamation

Position yourself at the back of the class, behind some tight lycra for extra interest Very Happy

It's great for core strength and flexibility. I still do some of the stretches at the gym. Sun salutations:

Lots of stuff on youtube

Really helped my sciatica, and flexibility Thumbs Up Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Lesson 1.

Lie under a defender....lift neck and shoulders off floor to inspect handbrake. Hold that position for 2 hours whilst you vigorously work on forearm strength by stretching springs with pliers.

Intermittently drag yourself out from under the land rover using core strength to flex the hips....do this as many times as you forget the tools you need...

A few beer glass lifting warm down exercises and you have completed your first lesson....

My wife does pilates, swears by it.

If she's not had time to do it a couple of times, her back and hamstrings are really sore and stiff.
