15x10" modular wheels
First post on here so... HI Thumbs Up

Will a set of 35/12.5/15 fit on my defender without any mod to the body or suspension ?

If any one has any photographs that would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Elliot

Nope, you would need some significant mods I'm afraid, I use 33/12.5/15's on mine and I have a 3" lift and flared wheel arches. I have also read that if you fit any tyres larger than 33" you run the risk of severley overloading hub's, bearings etc. I also uprated my front brakes as well because you need quite a bit of stopping power with that much rubber, looks pretty cool with big tyres tho' Thumbs Up
Somebody will be along shortly with a bit more advise, a lot of blokes on here will advise you not to do it for their own valid reasons but I think go for it if you want to, it's your car Thumbs Up

Definitely not I am afraid. I ran 35 13.5 15 BFG Krawlers for years on 8x15 -25offset rims and it took a lot of mods to make them usable off road.

Especially on the front end. The rear was ok with a 2" lift and the wider arches mounted on higher up the panels (but the tyres still stuck miles beyond the larger arches) Having said that 35" Krawlers are a massive 35" tyre

The front took a lot more work. In the end I did a tubular front wing conversion with my own inner wings and so on

Sort of what it looks like with them fitted:

Hi Elliot, I think you may still need a suspension lift even for 31"
The brake upgrade wasn't anyhting special really, just vented discs (drilled and slotted), new calipers and EBC green pads and I intend fitting braided pipes some time in the future also.
Cheers

Std fitment sizes over the years have included

235/85 r16
265/75 r16

These equate to 31.72" and 31.64" resepctively

As such 31's will actually be smaller in diameter than the std offerings.

I ran 255/85 r16's for years with no lift, but they did rub on occasions.

255/85 r16 = 33.04"

Personally however I would not use 15*10 rims. Do you know what offset they are?

7 or 8x16 or 8x15 (if you really want 15" wheels) would make more sense in my opinion

just a question why are you against 10x15?

Thanks psimpson7

What about 285/75/16 B F Goodrich KM2 Mud Terrain Tyres on 10"x16"?

looking on here and loads of people have the same 185/75/16 just not on 10" why would i need to lift if non of these people have ?

Confused

I just don't see the point in using 10" wide rims. -25 offset is too much imo anyway really, let alone -33. I would prefer something around -15mm. Why do you want to use 10" wide rims? What are you trying to achieve?

287/75 r16's area fraction under 33" in diameter.

On a normal(ish) offset wheel (+30ish(std) to maybe 0) they (285 or 255's) probably wouldn't rub too badly but on a 10" wide rim with a -33 they most likely will in my experience

Your original question was regarding 35's and for that you would definitely need a lift irrespective of wheel width and offset.

I only ran 8" wide wheels on a 13.5" wide tyre. For info on full lock and full bump the tyres would rip the front wing skins off at the back of the wheel arch. That was with a 2" lift.
