| Lubricating Gliderol garage door?? | |
Does anyone have a gliderol roller door on their garage/workshop?
I fitted mine about 8 years ago, for the last couple of years it has been giving a loud grinding squeak when it is going up and down which sounds like the spring is dry. I am sure a couple of squirts of lube would do the trick, but I have no idea how I might get it to the spring. I do not fancy monkeying around with the tensioned spring with no idea what I am doing.
Has anyone managed to lubricate the spring?
Now and then it judders badly in the tracks - according to gliderol you should not use any oils or lubricants on the tracks. However I have been so fed up with it jamming I gave it a squirt of spray grease and it is now gliding up and down with no judders and veyr little noise (other than the spring as above).

On my garage door the tracks are steel but the door has a canvas type strip where it fits in the channel. In the bumph that came with it, it says not to use oil or grease but instead use furniture polish
I give mine a good squirt with pledge once a year and that seems to work fine  . Also if you use the lemon variety it smells nice too

Use silicon spray because oil,grease or WD40 will just attract more dirt. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.
