I think it may just be the Winter months with the dark mornings and evenings. I travel to work in the dark and return the same. The journey is the same I do in the Summer which I enjoy but seems so much more tiresome and arduous in the Winter. There are more accidents in the Winter too and I don't think it's necessarily weather conditions but the drearyness and the fact people are half asleep.
May have to get a UV light for the dash perhaps? ![]() Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Yes, very good point! I did that very thing only last week and although In my defence the pump layout was rather confusing I probably should have taken more time to look at what I was doing! Didn`t put petrol in my diesel Landrover however but managed to put in Ultimate diesel at £1.55 a ltr when I only wanted regular diesel at £1.43! Did notice before I started fueling and thought it odd that the pump was saying £1.55 when the forecourt sign said £1.43! Only when I followed the hose back to the pump did I realise my mistake!
![]() My wife (Bless her!) did misfuel my diesel Freelander a couple of years ago but realised her mistake after driving a couple of miles so topped up with diesel and drove home. As the tank had been very low on diesel and she had put £20 of petrol in then £20 of diesel I ended up draining the tank, changing the fuel filter and flushing the fuel lines. The Freelander was still running ok before the tank was drained but i wasn`t taking any chances. Still have the Freelander today and it has never had an issue since! I had to point out to a woman the other day in the filling station as she had a bodyshop courtesy car that it was a petrol car as she was attempting to put diesel in it. The nozzle wouldn`t fit the filler neckand the pump kept cutting off but she was very determined! What little fuel was coming out was just running down the side of the car! I was very nice about it as I remembered that I had very nearly been there, done that myself! ![]() |

Mal, I was around Stockport at the time! Had just done a deal and bought a 90 Wolf so it was the first filling station I came to on the drive home. Perhaps it was the excitement of a new Landrover! Theres`a small Gulf filling station near where I work in Glasgow that is always 10-15p a ltr dearer than any others round about but people still seem to use it!

There's a petrol station I use on the Dorchester Road near Wimborne that even in the early hours of the morning is jammed with cars. That one is 4-5p cheaper than any other local garages. If one can do it, why not all?????

The local independent near me is at 132.1p/pl for Diesel at the moment! Not too bad! An engine to TDi for!
