Reverse gear
Just got my new (2010 puma 2.4) and foolishly never tried reverse on the test drive. Is it right that when dis-engaging reverse the gear lever "clicks" out.? Sounds odd...my td5 never did it....(35,000 miles)

What do you mean clicks out? To select its pressure to the left and up and that's all there is to it. To disengage is just the opposite. There is no way that it can be selected by accident either.
My only gripe with the reverse gear as it's gearing is a bit high IMO it's a touch taller than first gear which isn't something I'm keen on. It's okay for reversing at speed (who does that??) but for general maneuvering it's can be a tad annoying because it feels less controllable.
Should be the same as 1st imo Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

yeah the lever/linkage itself I've found can make a bit of a plasticy click when disengaging, normally fine if i dip the clutch enough though. think its when your just dragging it out of gear with partial dipped clutch in my experience, otherwise its fine 99.9% of the time Cheers, David

I think I know what you mean. Lamborghini spend a lot of money to achieve a click like that. Laughing Craig Rogers

Both my Td5's do do it... there is a safety catch inside the box to stop you going from 5th to reverse/vica versa

TD5 is different as reverse position is 6th on a Puma. Craig Rogers

It doesnt click on its own accord....just when you pull it out it kind of makes this plasticy clump like its stuck almost..
