Locking Your Tailgate
I want to be able to lock my tailgate and can only think of putting padlocks through each of the catches:

has anyone come up with alternative solution?

If not, has anyone got a good supplier for 8 padlocks all keyed alike?

You can get sets of 3 or 4 padlocks keyed alike in the DIY sheds.

To get 8 padlocks keyed alike is slightly more unusual.

I know Charles Watson ironmongers in Halifax can get padlocks keyed alike. Eight padlocks keyed alike is most likely a special order and may well cost s

How about 8 combination locks with adjustable code that match?
Not cheap again though but might be an easier option. Keys can be a pain anyway. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

I wonder if it would be possible to use something like this?:

Would require some modification though, but I'd imagine it's possible.

Any good locksmith should be able to supply any number of keyed-alike padlocks. If possible get marine-quality stainless which will last longer.

You could fit some padlock hasps, one on each side...

Or even modify a long throw deadbolt to fit each side. This would need some fabricating though..

Also if you don't need drop down function of tailgate you can easily modify it to be swing open and then you just need one of these on one side only...

If you fit a lockable swing-away wheel carrier on the back, it will have the effect of locking your tailgate (and with a single lock). Most will also prevent a canopy flap from being opened, though usually if the wheel is removed from the carrier the canopy can be opened.

A padlock through the antiluce is as secure as a hasp and staple.

Not a fan of combination locks and if I get all locks keyed alike then I will only need a single key for all of them.

Had definitely not considered something like that, so I've had a look but ruled it out on two grounds - it's too far away from the KISS principle and at that price point I would be concerned of it's long term reliability.

Two for the tailgate
Two for the MSS drawer
Two for dog cage
One for the awning
One for the spare wheel

Thinking about it it might be better to go for 10 and have two spare Laughing

...and I've just had a thought about the seat boxes - so there's another two!

Thanks - didn't know about these before so after your pointer I've done a little research and decided that these do look right for my intended use Thumbs Up

Have decided against a swing away carrier for the time being - struggling to find one i like (single pivot) that is compatible with a rear step bumper and Patriot offside ladder.

Thanks - think I have identifed the supplier and make on ebay unless anyone has had bad experiences of either:

IFAM Marine Padlock - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230974242781?ssP...1438.l2649

I just need to size up the shackle diameters to get the largest size that will fit.
