Eric, I haven't noticed the cable on their car, but I know they have the heated mirrors installed on theirs (altough that's a td5).
Anyways, I'm considering heated mirrors on my td4 as especially with the 130 it's disaster trying to park the car in the rain at night. By the way, the also have good coffee, so it's good it's only a 10 minute drive up there for me.  |

Here is the translation of the response by landreiziger to my question:
The heated mirrors with turn signal are not currently in stock. We have not received all the elements which we need to put in the mirror, I expect to receive them next week to have so that we can produce a series of heated mirrors with turn signal repeaters. By the end of next week delivery would probably be possible again. Assembling such a set at our workplace is indeed possible, for this make an appointment by phone with Liz, tel 0786189878 Heated mirrors can be installed with its own dedicated switch (if a free position in the dashboard) we do this in our own workshop of original LR switches a switch with the symbol of a mirror heating. This also needs to be produced, so happy when you make the appointment to mention if you want to use this option. A complete connection (switch, relay and wiring costs about 45, - Euro. Rgds, Martin Well, I do not have a free space on my dash for a switch as the only available place has been used for the front fogs switch. I will check with my dealers here how difficult they think it is to install these mirrors, connecting the heating function in line with the rear window demister.... Still looks like could be a very nice mod, so will kepos  You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Right, but in my case the heated windscreen gets used only for like a minute at the time or so as it clears the screen very fast. The rear window demister gets used more like 5 minutes or so before it has fully cleared the rear screen, so probably better to connect the heating elements of the mirrors to that one. Which I believe is how heated mirrors are wired on most cars.

The front heated screen is on a timer and turns itself off anyway, so by far the simplest from an operation point of view. The rear screen switch is latching, so has to be turned off manually. Unless you think you're going to wear them out by leaving them on too long?? Darren
