Yeah, that's the conclusion I came to! It's destined for the bin. I suppose it's nice to give free stuff away, but when it's just utter crap, what's the point? Just more stuff to go to landfill. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

It's a buff. I'm happy as you can never have enough of these. Loads of uses.

If you do a lot of outdoor stuff, keep one in the truck just in case.

I think I may be being grumpy and ungrateful!

@Blackwolf - Rolling with laughter I do quite enjoy having a flick through it every month, but I do get where you're coming from. It can be a bit hit and miss. Also subscribe to Car magazine and must admit that I generally enjoy that more these days. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

LRO is okay if you don't mind paying for half a book of ads that are always the same. ____\We|Will|Win/___

My comment was, of course, not meant to be taken too seriously!

I started buying what became LRO (then called something like Overlander I seem to recall) back in the 80's when it first became available on subscription only. I also seem to recall that David Bowyer was the creator. I bought it avidly for years, as well as several of the other similar mags that have appeared over the years.

Now I buy none.

Over the years I have observed that:-

1. All the mags are essentially the same, and usually run similar main articles at about the same time.

2. All the mags run through a sort of cycle of articles which repeats every couple of years or so.

3. All are increasingly filling up with advertising for obvious reasons, and since the advertisers tend to run identical ads in all of them the mags are losing their individual identity.

4. Britpart sponsors far too many articles it too many titles!

After a few years I realised that I had read just about everything before, and when I factored in the cumulative cost I just stopped.

I might actually buy it this month then...... could do with another buff as the winter season is approaching

Can't say I buy any of them anymore. Tend to be full of trucks built by people with one thing in common..... A endless budget to pay a company to build them a truck.

I found exactly the same thing with photography magazines -- I suspect tips the same model for all enthusiast and hobby press. The natural subscription period is a year, perhaps as a gift from someone. In that time you see a full cycle of articles and topics, helpfully driven by annual product updates and releases. I suspect the aim is to hold interest over a subscription period then hope for new owners to keep the numbers up. 2009 110 XS Station Wagon
