Ghillie kettle
I'm going wild camping and need a stove/cooker of some description. Has anyone tried a ghillie or Kelly kettle? You thoughts would be appreciated

Kelly kettles are great fun and very quick:

I usually cheat slightly and use a fire lighter to get it going Whistle Darren

I have the 1.5 litre kettle, they work amazingly well, even fast if you can find the right wood/fuel.. but that not always easy if it's been raining.. and starting a fire in wind is impossible.

Carry around plenty of dry wood chips to make it practical..

You really want to go for gas, get your self a jetboil with some spare gas cans. Lots of vids on youtube Thumbs Up

Had a race last time we were out, the jetboil just pipped the Storm Kettle to making the tea, but the storm kettle made enough water for several more cups and some hot water for washing up.

Thanks for the replies. I've ordered. 1.5l ghillie kettle which is almost identical to a Kelly, but it has a whistle and that just appealed to me lol
