Caravanning with a 90?
Hi all,

Having read through these posts, the majority seems to caravan with a 110.

Are there any 90 caravanners out there, if so, what's your 'rig'??

Cheers for now

Previously..... Quite a few! I really am a sucker for them!

I have towed our Elddis Crusader Sirocco, twin axle, with my Td5 90. It managed it very well, was stable, and cruised at 55 - 60 all day. You will have to slow for hills and drop to 4th though. Normally I tow with my Disco 3 which is sublime, but the 90 does a great job also. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Usually tow our Elddis twin axle with our Discovery 3, but sometimes I have towed it with my 300 TDI 90.
The 90 seems to cope fine with the tintent on the back.
Also just bought a TD5 110 CSW and that seems to tow it ok as well.
I would say that the D3 is the best of them all for towing given all the electronics & the extra weight of it.
Just my opinion.
A 90 will do the job just fine.

Thumbs Up

with the mixed results on the 2.2 engine you may have a good or bad one. so power wise you may be ok or down a little.

as for actual tow-ability there as good as a 110. better turning circle, lighter.

my 110 tows with ease, fuel consumptions crap but it flys along. we are siting ours so the wife can go there with the kids if im not around.

i'lll be going back to a 90 sometime.

Had my first proper experience towing a caravan last month.

Took the abbey Beaumaris from our home in north lincs down to Isle of Wight.

Stacked full of stuff too, awning, gazebo, fishing gear ( not mine), tents and 10 days clothes for 7

No problems at all with the 2.4 90 puma apart from shockingly high fuel consumption Big Cry

Only managed 25mpg heading south and 27 mpg on return northerly trip

Strange, because its downhill going south, and uphill when coming back north. Everyone knows that Smile
