I love footy, I used to play for 2 local villages sides and play 5-a-side at least once a week, plus I'd watch Match of the Day etc, before that, when a kid, everyone on our estate used to be out after school playing footy, 'jumpers for goal posts' and all that, it was good fun. Now though, I hardly ever see a bunch of kids running around a field anywhere, unless its an organised game with parents and a local club, kids don't seem to have the stimulus to join forces and get a game going of anything, footy, rugby, cricket included. Shame really.
I've lost interest in footy a bit now too, everything has become about money, huge wage packets, bad behaviour on and off the field, berating the ref in footy infuriates me, you don't get that happening in rugby.
It'll be a long time before England get to the top in football again, most of the players are foreign in the higher leagues, what does that tell you? I still can't help blaming electronic games consoles for some of the demise, most kids just get home from school and take the easy option of an X-box over X-cercise, that's why the kids of today are getting unfit and overweight.
Sorry to rant but I needed that!
