screen resolution issues
Martin,

When using the site on my work PC, which has a screen resolution of 1680x1050, the menu on the right disappears... Resizing the browser window (smaller) "solves" the problem. Is this a known issue?

This is a known problem on Internet Explorer which does not properly support the standard method used to reposition the banner and limit the page width.

I am working on a fix, but at the moment those fixes have been breaking the standard-compliant browsers.
