United Kingdom 2008 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
We just bought a new Audi A1 sportsback and there was an R8 that was sat outside the showroom. Quick glance at the Tax Disc alone appeased the fact I pay 'window tax' on my XS. How much? An eye watering £1065:00. Lovely looking car though.

K9F -£1065 is just the first year, after that its the same as your 90 at £490 Mr. Green

I am exploring options, for a mid-life crisis car, and before going out and buying a 911, I am looking around, personally I think the v8 R8 is the new 911. I have been looking at the R8 forum for more info regarding the running of those beauties.

Would it go over the drop on your drive? They don't go up or down the ramps on the ferries without auxillary ramps. If you want a 'licence loser' the Lotus Exige S would be the vehicle for affordability, style and performance for me. I had a loaner for a week when my mate went on holiday and my licence was relieved to give it back although I myself was sad to see it go. Takes a couple of days alone figuring out how to get the hang of getting in and out of it without looking a right tw4t huffing and puffing.

A mate of mine had an exige, quite a drivers car and like you say tricky to get in and out of unless yoga is also a hobby, but I'm looking for more of a grand tourer, another mate had a Maserati 4200, fantastic car, 4 seats too, sounded wonderful and 22mpg from a v8 Ferrari engine was acceptable when you consider defenders will do about 25mpg when loaded up ( although some defender owners will swear they get 40mpg Rolling with laughter ) and they can be bought for about £20k, but the running costs for him were interesting to say the least.

The R8 is my current goal, unless they really are a nightmare to own ....

Thanks Ken, I'll look out for that option, although driveways can be altered when the time comes, it's only one side that has a problem

I had the z3m coupe, great, though needed another cog... 5 gears not enough. It's what stopped me buying another.
The s54 engines are gathering money.

My boss tested an R8 and an Aston, he's definitely sticking with his 911 Thumbs Up
