I'm on Virgin and don't have a bad word for them.

The B.T. engineer ripped out the telephone cables to the house when I changed to Virgin so in his words "It would cost me a lot of money to change back" after that attitude why would I. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

So if you are in a bad area (I am, still on good old ADSL MAX, yep 8mb down, 448K up!!!!), chances are it's BT or nothing, whoever you chose to go with.

Had another call from BT customer service management today apologising for their inability to get their systems talking to each other. almost pleading with me.

having read all these comments BT does seem sensible....still Shocked

I must say that in the last 7 yrs BT have been very very reliable with only the very odd outage due to storms or a flooded junction box, so not really their fault.

I am extremely busy at work, he says typing with one hand while eating.., so I will give them until the end of the week.

I was interested 'davew' comments on the router. My original BT Homehub-1 router went very slow, I changed that to a Netgear router about 3 years ago which has now died, recently acquire a BT Homehub-3 which is OK but I understand that I would get the latest BT Homehub-4 with Infinity. No idea whether it would be better or just a re-packaged old one!

With Primus business and get good service - the speed is rubbish but that is more to do with living miles away form the exchange, rumour has it that our exchange is getting upgraded to fibre in the autumn so we will see.
Meanwhile if I want to do anything at speed I just plug in the three mifi router and get at least 3 times the speed.

It does seem to depend on your local area. We work from home and have virgin for the house ( fast but unreliable ) and BT for the office ( slow and dependable ) . If one crashes it switches to the next available network. BT customer service is awful but their network seems more robust Virgin customer service is better but they sub contract the engineering side so it is very hit and miss. Last year our neighbour got all of our phone calls after an engineer had worked on the cabinet at the end of our road and I have lost count of the number of times we have been disconnected to plug in a new customer.

Also have a Three mifi as a back up on pay as you go.

BT Infinity here we come...... The fear of death is the most unjustified of all fears, for there's no risk of accident for someone who's dead.
