Know it is difficult to see what they really would be paying, if it would be a combined deal of selling back the "Black Pearl" and simultaneously buy a new FFRR or other, but how much would they still offer you for it today? If of any help for benchmarking, here in Switzerland at present there is a moderate mileage Black Pearl 2nd hand for sale at still pretty high value. Looks in pretty good condition, only the added chequer plate looks out of place on this version which too bad. http://www.autoscout24.ch/fr/d/land-rover-...earto=2010 You never actually own a Defender. mine is now coming upto 2.5 years but only 8k and lives in a garage most of the time, I,ve had the corroding windscreen frame issue, which was repainted, the headlight levelling light not working which althought highlighted is still not working. No leaks but panel fit is poor. When new it had the knock knock noise at low speed coasting but that went away after greasing the shafts and putting a few miles on it , I think it was the hand brake dragging when new as operating it gently made a big difference, the gearbox is now much better than new (or my style has changed), it had what sounded like a knackered wheel bearing when new but I found one of the disc shields was rubbing on the disk when on full lock, I gave it a tug and that fixed that. I live in solihull visited the factory and know some of the people on the Defender line, I dont think defects are acceptable but do think they are enevitable. If I had the problems some on here have I do know I would have exploded by now, Caterham springs to mind. I think Id have driven (pushed in his case) it back throught the doors at Lode Lane DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

2.5 years should mean that the headline leveling motor should be replaced under warranty. I had that same problem on one side twice, and each time dealer replaced it without questioning. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I actually quite like the Merc, although I must say I find the interior a bit too modern too my taste. Anyway, I've driven BMW from the day I had my drivers licence. The last one left last year when I bought a VW Transporter. Always had the solid built German cars, but in the end it's the 'badly put together' Britsh cars that I fall for. They're like a high maintenance bitch. ![]() Didn't have too many problems with mine after 3 to 4 months and 10.000 kilometres. Dealer service has been excellent so far. |

I had hoped it would be fixed with the newly attached hose, but it's still howling at around 120 kmh. Not very loud, but you can hear it. They said they checked everything with no conclusion when she was at the dealers for 60 k inspection. I wonder how accurate they were searching due to the fact the hose came off afterwards

It's just incredible, yesterday evening both dipped headlights went off similarily, were not able to be switched on again, high beam still intact. Send her to the dealer if a fuse was blown or whatever the problem would be. Came out both Philips Nightbreaker+ bulbs were parallel blown, how could this happen, STRANGE DEFENDER!!!!! Maybe she realizes I'm going to get rid of her and she already starts revenge?

I will definately take care of that. Two friends already 'applied' buying her, so she is going to be in good hands
I would really keep her, if I was running her privately, but for my current needs in business I have to change due to the problems mentioned above. My 15 year old daughter is very angry with me becuase of selling the Defender. In two years time she'll have her driver's licence and she was really looking forward to driving around in my Defender. And I am pretty sure I will miss her very very much too ![]() I'm sure this won't have been my last Defender! . |

Tomorrow it's gonna be one of these very bad days, the defender is leaving me. I'm pretty sure it'll be the first time I shed a tear because of a ride leaving the family, I will miss her very severely, I can already feel the blues aproaching me

My beloved defender is gone, already on vacation with a rental Mercedes ML 350Bluetec, I definately hate that car, perfect, but totally boring and ugly. We are on Sylt again, a very big bunch of Defenders here at the moment and I'm jealous every time one of the LR Icons heading towards us in our bling bling egg!
Have to drive that thing for four more weeks, then the alternative between the Defender and modern cars will be delivered: G-Wagon 350 CDI Bluetec in darkblue with black leather interior and a few other bits. Didn't order any stainless options like wheels cover or sidesteps for the exterior to keep it classic I do not think the BlackPearl was my last Defender, I will definately buy one again, when it fits my needs better than at this moment, so I'll stay on here reading all your freds Cheers Kraut ! |

Kraut, cannot say I really feel sorry for you. A G-wagon is not the worst alternative for your Black Pearl of course
![]() ![]() ![]() But just be a man, and go buy additionally one of those German Defender Blaser editions, if any are left, you might be more lucky with the build quality than with your Black Pearl, and.................................................. your now 15 year old daughter will be very thankful, maybe she even allows you to take care of it until she has her drivers license. ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge You never actually own a Defender. Thanks Eric for your empathy again, I would love to have an additonal Defender for fun at the weekends, but the G-Wagen hasn't left any 'sparemoney' for now!
And I would really like to apologize for deleting all the pictures in this thread on here, but it came out it wasn't too target-aimed selling the Defender and having this story and pictures on here, therfore I had to delet them. Will try to upload them again, when I'm home again. In addition there are two pictures almost identical to the spec I ordered the face-lifted G-Wagon in tansanit blue (except the stainless steel side steps and stainless steel spare wheel cover. And didn't order the darkly tinted glass, only lightly toned, don't want to have a drug baron look <=> G63 and G65 specs): ![]() ![]() Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() |
