I've been told by several 'experts' that pushing a 2.4 engine to 185 bhp is too much and that you run the risk of irreparable damage to the engine. Does anyone have any experience of such damage please??

sounds like nonsense to me, if all the parts are upgraded to match and the map is professional and done properly then you shouldn't have any dramas

It depends on the whole package... and who does the work.

My demo Defender 2.4 is making a genuine 204bhp and 560nm without fault..... and it gets driven enthusiastically inc race track use.

Dont get tied up bhp - torque is much more important!

Also, I've not seen many people actually get anywhere near 185bhp with proof. Most just give an estimated figure picked out of the sky.

You wont get 185bhp safely with just an intercooler and a new calibration.

My 2.4 is available for demo drives if needed.

Most of these so called experts have no idea of development and testing..... and still think you just add a bit more injector pw.

It also rather depends on how you use it afterwards.

My motor thats new to me has the JE engineering stage 2 but its nowhere near 180bhp. Pulls well but cant see it getting that figure myself. Im going to go and buy myself the new BAS map when funds allow. And maybe a turbo Whistle William
