Hi Deep down

Did Morocco in 2007 going again this year ( I think subject to dog sitters)
Advice
Well monies it used to be that $ was king but now it seemes to be the euro, take small demonations purchase local currency incountry ( Well take a bit with you ) Denar.
water used bottled, take a fridge (Engel) if you have room and good for keeping cholate in ( on that note we could'nt get decent stuff in country take your own) the local kids love it and its good for bribing them to f*** off when youve had enough. narr really they are sweet . the people are really nice too. Take time to get to know them do'nt just rush around with the raid crowd.

If you get any down time after the raid or before go to the Madena in fez its worth a punt TIP get a local guid for the day AN OFFICIAL one they are badged and all where the guides uniform ( traditional derss)and have an official badge, we paid about 40euro for the whole day with him and he was invaluable sorce of information on lots of other stuff outside of the madena.

Get a fixer when your crossing the border too it speeds things up ( but you can do it yourself) it tends to be a bit pushy at the border and you need to be firm but not obnocous ( if thats how you spell it ) once past the entry and exit to the country try to relax and move into a slower gear ( in Life) and enjoy the people and the country.

we went with absoloutly no plans or agenda just a jeep and three maps ( yes i know i hade'nt found landrover love at that time, but were going in the 130 this year) Te local road side cafes are good value but always ask for bottled water or you will get tap. Salads are washed in tap so be causious of that one .

on the above take a good first aid kit, you can purchase most things in country BUT its too late when you already have the dellie belly.

Hope that helps a bit if you want more infor just PM me and ill send over me number for a proper chat

Thanks for the info.

We've stocked up with pens, books and clothes to give away.

Imodium was high on the list of things to bring. Shocked

This time it seems to be more of a race/challenge rather than a site seeing tour (boys trip away), but I'm planning to head back in July and September for a more relaxing time with the family.

I'll post a link to the GPS tracker once I get there, and of course plenty of photos. Thumbs Up

I would strongly NOT recommend giving anything away.
Keep it to someone who makes you a favour, invites you to his home etc. Janusz

It stopped registering after 100km/hr, the sensor just needed moving closer. I did have it running of the gearbox speed sensor but it wasn't reliable enough, kept jumping, any ideas on that would be of help. Tried screened cable but it still seemed to be picking up interference.

Yaho, Regarding the stuff to give away, as you say it's for favours and people who deserve it.

Yes, the children, bless them Evil or Very Mad The ones that were nice got a special pen and notepad, the unpleasant ones got a sachet of 'Special HOT Sauce' from our rat-packs. The little s**ts were herding goats in front of us to slow us down.

They even opened the rear door of my team mates Disco as he drove out of a river, a lot of his camping gear fell out and was either nicked or washed away.

Other than that, its a great country. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

signal wire not run near alt cables etc? we have run off the speed sensor no problems so far on others i have used, only just physically fitted mine though (yet to be checked)

did you try it with a different speed sensor

what was the calibration number off the speedo? higher than 1000? Cheers

Another link with photos etc.

http://www.findmespot.com/spotadventures/i...pid=321515

Hoping to return in September and take it at a much slower place, although not a competition, the pace seemed to like a mini Paris-Dakar. Excellent scenery and wonderful people.

Defender back a the house now, major clean out. Covered 10 000 Kms in just over two weeks.

As mentioned in another thread, no problems during the trip, until we started the journey home and suffered loss of power and strange temperature readings. Re-seated all the relays as suggested and all seems to be ok for the moment.

The only other thing is that both front and rear diff seals are now leaking, and both ends of the transfer box. Off to do some more investigating.

I've been there several times, in Landys and on motorbikes.
My advice is to travel light, you can get everything there you need. Even in more remote areas.

Get away from the usual pistes and tracks. To get the best experience go as remote as possible, fuel is everywhere even if you have to ask for it, take a jerry can though. the trip through Spain will be harder on your engine and transmission more than Moroccan itself.

All you need is a credit card and some spare pants. relax. Sib
