Number 3 son has broken his laptop screen (hit it with the mains plug)
It's a Compaq. I've looked 'online' and there appear to be loads of companies that you send the laptop to and for circa £75 they replace the screen. Has anyone used one of these companies, if so which one and was all OK ? Cheers ![]() |

I broke one on a Compaq and ordered the screen from http://www.laptopscreenonline.com/ and fit it myself. Doddle.

Alternatively, buy a 'spares or repair' laptop of the same make and spec with a working screen from Fleabay and swap the screens over. I've done this a couple of times for friends with broken screens and then re-sold the donor laptop on Fleabay again.
Much cheaper than buying a new screen and relatively easy to fit. There are some good 'how to' resources on the web to help with dismantling and refitting. 2015 90 XS CSW TDCi - Beautiful 2007 110 XS DCPU - An itch that needed scratching 2005 90 Td5 XS CSW - Utterly brilliant 2001 Discovery 2 ES Auto - A phase I went through 1996 90 Tdi CSW - Uber reliable 1989 90 2.5 Petrol Hardtop - My first proper Landy 1985 Range Rover Vogue V8 -Troublesome |

Similar to mramdmrsh, I ordered a replacement 15.6in screen via eBay from Rolta Limited cost £41.99 plus £7.5 for next day delivery and took about 20mins to fit. I'd taken old screen out before ordering as there were two connection arrangements for my model PC and I needed to be sure I was ordering correct version

or plug it into the tv or external monitor while you are waiting for the replacement, usually something like FN + F6 or f8 switches the output to the vga/hdmi socket
